Fall Foliage in Milford, PA
Though we’re still savoring every last bit of Milford summer here at the Hotel Fauchere, we’re also keenly anticipating the annual bonanza of color soon in store for our Pocono forests.
By no means is it too early to lock down your autumn stay with us at our grand and historic hotel: “Leaf-peeping” time will be upon us before you know it, and the Pocono Mountains that make our rolling and richly timbered backyard are one of the finest places in the world to indulge in this unique seasonal sightseeing.
First-Class Fall Colors in the Poconos
Eastern North America is unrivaled on the globe for its autumn color, and the Northeast in particular puts on just about the most breathtaking show. There are many reasons for the impressive extent and vividness of our regional fall hues, not least of which is the great diversity of our hardwood trees and shrubs: from maples and ashes to beeches and aspens.
In our corner of the Pocono Mountains—the central part of that sprawling province—fall color usually gets underway about the end of September and continues through early November, with a peak roughly October 14.
Strategizing Your Local Leaf-Peeping
With a luxurious guestroom or suite at the Hotel Fauchere, you’ll have ample opportunities to get out and revel in the reds, yellows, coppers, and burgundies of our local canopies. You don’t even need to leave town to soak up the exuberant hues: The town of Milford itself flares with plenty of eye-catching leafy pizzazz, and we’re right in the heart of town.
For more leaf-peeping adventures, consider a short jaunt into the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area just outside town or High Point State Park in New Jersey just to the east—or ask at our front desk for scenic-drive recommendations!
We sketched out the general timetable for autumn color in our area, but of course the onset, strength, and duration of fall foliage in any given year depends on weather conditions. To track the show—and find out a good time to beeline for the Hotel Fauchere—keep tabs on this handy, regularly updated foliage forecast from the Pocono Mountains Visitor Bureau or the similar service offered by the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation & Natural Resources.
