The Milford Readers and Writers Festival inspires conversations between people who love to read books and people who write them. Building on the timeless tradition of storytelling and the participatory energy of book clubs, the focus is on the readers by inviting them to share their insights, queries, and responses directly with the authors. Past guests
and authors participating include Gloria Steinem, John Berendt, Lee Chiles, Farai Chideya, Stephen Rubin, Patricia Bosworth, Robin Morgan, Martha Frankel, MK Assante and many more.
The festival takes place in the historic Milford Theater and at several landmark sites around town, including Grey Towers National Historic Site, the Pike County Historical Society’s Columns Museum and the Pike County Public Library.
Each fall, the Black Bear Film Festival brings to Milford the best in fresh, new independent film. It is one of the most enjoyable weekends of the year, with films running all day in the Film Salon and at the historic Milford Theatre, now renovated and under new management. Join us for this great, beautifully-produced boutique film festival, held near the peak of fall color.
